The Seven Skulls of Magondi

Here it is, the final story from Chamber of Chills #6 and it’s a jungle terror doozy! Great inks too from my favorite Harvey cover artist Lee Elias, who also illustrated a mountain of excellent work in not only the golden age but also the silver (including, but definitely not limited to my favorite era run of kooky Green Arrow stories in DC’s World’s Finest!) I’ll post another Elias story next to give you an even nicer taste of his amazing artistic talent in the horror genre.

Harvey really liked their shrunken head stories... there's a bunch that will eventually get posted here, but yeah, this is definitely one of the freakiest!

Another thing that just occured to me, why did he even put the necklace on around his neck after he stole it? Most thieves put the loot in their pockets or shove it down their pants. I guess if he had done this we'd have a totally different kind of painfully twisted story though...

I don't like it as much as the atlas story;"The Cannibals",but it's a decent timewaster, and Lee Elias doesn't do too good, but still, theres no denying his skills as an artist,i love his work on the Linda Turner BLACK CAT,speaking of which, got any scans of BLACK CAT after it became a horror title, that face-exploding cover is the shitz!

The Powell Shrunken Head story from chamber of chills #5 is a winner.

Currently I only have 3 issues of Black Cat Mystery, #'s 36, 37 and 43... I'll pull them out this weekend and see if there's any decent stories to post. I do have Chamber of Chills #5 though, plus a good number of Atlas head shrinkers still on the schedule as well so hold onto your tiny hats!

I've mentioned this before but if anyone out there has scans they'd like to donate to this blog please email them to me at karswell@hotmail.com ...write a short little description and I'll post it with a credit to you too. Thanks!
